May 19: Texture

Still working on effectively using texture.

May 4, Day 122: Squirrels and Jewels

Today my macro lens filters came. I have a real macro lens on my wishlist, but until then these will do! I didn't have a lot of time to practice between studying and taking care of Moses, but I did manage to snap a couple pictures of my ring.

To compare, here's a shot a took with my 50 mm lens without the filter.

I also snapped this picture of a squirrel outside in a tree, using my telephoto lens (without a macro filter).

April 29 (Day 117)

April 27: Waterless bath

We went to visit my mom today. And I put Moses in the tub in the bathroom there, because our bathroom gets ZERO natural light but theirs has lots of big windows. Moses had fun at first, but then he decided that being in a tub without water was kind of dull, and demanded to get out. I also got a photo of this really pretty conch shell that I think has gone from house to hosue with them ever since I was a kid. I used to try to hear the ocean in it.

Day 104: Flower Power

Day 88: Vintage Rose

Original:

To get this effect, adjusted the curves, ran an unsharp mask, lowered the saturation, added vertical noise, upped the levels and added a bloom effect at 5% opacity.

Day 87:

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
My new telephoto macro lens came the other day, so I bought myself some flowers to practice my macro photography. To edit this I adjusted the saturation, lightened the colour, cropped and then flipped it because it was upside down.

Day 6: Indulgence

Believe it or not, I drink this sugary, caffeine-filled conconction (complete with sprinkles) just about every morning.

Day 4: Splish Splash

. . .I was takin' a bath.

Today's photos were an experiment in still life. Obviously not my forte. Any advice on settings, lighting, composition or editing welcome!

Bonus: This one is obviously not a still life, but he's too cute to keep to myself!
